I Love You Too

OK, I've been criticized for just showing my fantastic
toilet seat at the hotel, so here comes som fun pictures.
Yesterday was just work, nothing special.

Tokyo has already started to decorate for Christmas.
See how beautiful it looks like around our hotel.

This is one of the strangest bun I have ever seen this
far. It is a hot dog bun with noodles inside. How practical!

Typical Japanese vending machines. The streets are full of them…

Are we in the US or in Japan?

The office was not too far from our hotel so we walk over there.
It's a nice 5 minutes walk. You get to cross a big road with
a thousand other people walking towards you like a wall.
The Japanese people come to work at around 10.00 – 10.30.
A lot of people work late and they have to commute a long
way every day so it's not strange at all that they come in late.

Our colleagues took us to a sushi restaurant near the office
and in the evening they took us to a ramen restaurant. I must say
that I’m not impressed by the sushi yet. Not impressed by the ramen
yet either. It was just OK.

Back at the hotel we took the elevator to the bar at the top of
the hotel. We drank our drinks and looked out over Tokyo. I can’t
stop being amazed about how we two days ago still were in cold,
boring, and little Lund and now were in the metropole of Tokyo,
sitting in a bar at the top floor of a hotel building looking out
over Tokyo. Isn’t this a small world and doesn’t it feel a little
bit like a jetset life?

I Love Tokyo

Landed safely around 10 o'clock in Tokyo earlier today. Too tired of doing anything we just spent the afternoon wandering around the area near Shinagawa Prince Hotel. Check out their website. What a fantastic hotel! It feels like I'm at a Vegas hotel.

The room is small but nice and clean.

The people here is nice and polite. I really think I'm beginning to love Tokyo.

About the picture above... I think I better figure out how the toilet works or else it won't be any poo poo the next two weeks. ;-)

Jason Mraz & Ingrid Michaelson Revisited

This is the best moment of the Olympen concert.
"You And I" with Ingrid Michaelson and Jason Mraz.

Clip made available by Stefan. Thanks! :)

Don’t you worry, there my honey
We might not have any money
But, we’ve got our love to pay the bills

Baby, I think you’re cute and funny
Maybe I wanna do what bunnies do with you
If you know what I mean

Oh, well let’s get rich and buy our parents
Home in the south of France
Let’s get rich and give everybody nice sweaters
And teach them how to dance
Let’s get rich and build a house on a mountain
Makin’ everybody look like ants
From way up there
You and I
You and I

Well, you might be a bit confused
And you might be a little bit bruised
But, baby, how we spoon like no one else
So I will help you read those books
If you will soothe my worried looks
And we will put the lonesome on the shelf

So let’s get rich and buy our parents
Home in the south of France
Let’s get rich and give everybody nice sweaters
And teach them how to dance
Let’s get rich and build a house on a mountain
Makin’ everybody look like ants
From way up there
You and I
You and I

Oh, let’s get rich and buy our parents
Home in the south of France
Let’s get rich and give everybody nice sweaters
And teach them how to dance
Let’s get rich and build a house on a mountain
Makin’ everybody look like ants
From way up there
You and I
You and I

Jason & Ingrid

Jason and Ingrid performing "Lucky" from Jason's
latest album "We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things".

Jason Mraz

Well Jason, the concert was OK. You have a great voice
and big lungs, and you are a great singer, but you have
toooooo many slow songs on your repertoire. The concert
lost momentum every time you performed the slow jazzy,
bluesy songs. Where are all those good pop songs on
your first album?

Best:
* The Remedy. Good introduction to the concert.
* You & I Both
* I'm Yours

Ingrid Michaelson Live @ Olympen, Lund

Half-Swedish Ingrid is supporting act for Jason Mraz
on the European leg of his tour.

Best:
* "The Way I Am" from One Tree Hill and Grey's Anatomy
* "Breakable" from Grey's Anatomy
* "Corner Of Your Heart" from Grey's Anatomy
* "You & I", the duet she and Jason sang

Check out her MySpace.

She has a new album coming out soon. It's called "Be OK".

Chinatown

We went to Chinatown yesterday. We ordered a lot of food at a restaurant. We didn't know every entrée was for two or three persons so we ordered one each. After two entrées the waiter already layed down the piece of paper where he'd written down our order, but we asked him to continue with two more entrées and one salad. No wonder he looked strangely at us and no wonder that everybody who walked by our table looked at us. Some of them even smiled. We had to ask for some doggy bags.

Later on we went to Chinatown Icecream Factory for some tasty ice cream.

Earlier today after we had checked out from our suite we bought some breakfast from a nearby café and went to Central Park to eat it. After that we went to Bloomingdale's before finally taking a cab to leave Manhattan for JFK. The taxi driver was nice so he got some extra tip.

We are at the airport now waiting for boarding. The plane is 40 minutes delayed.

Rain, Bitches, And More Rain

This morning we walked 5th Avenue and then we went to the United Nations. Their garden was closed due to reconstruction so we were only inside a little while.

The rain had been pouring down this afternoon. We chose to spend a few hours at Macy's instead. Luckily there are a lot of people with a lot of bad taste in this world. Who otherwise would have bought all the ugly clothes. People behave like they've found gold just because there's a 'Hugo Boss' or 'Ralph Lauren' printed on the clothes and there's a sign on the rack that says '25 % off'. Crazy! I mean man, you have to be able to walk around wearing those clothes when seeing other people!

If you want to feel in this season, buy a T-shirt with a tree printing on. Every other label has shirts like that. And yes, I'm in, so I own one of these shirts. :-D

Oh, I think I have forgotten to crown NYC the city in the world with the rudiest and bitchiest people in the world! Even worse than Hong Kong. I mean I have always known that but tend to forget that every time. Don't forget to be rude and bitchy back when you're here the next time. On our first day when taking a cab from JFK to Manhattan the driver demanded 15 dollar in tip (33 %!!). I totally refused that and had an argument with him. Today a register bitch first called the customer before us a bitch because the customer didn't want the stuff due to her Visa card not working on the payment terminal. And now imagine all four of us with our hands full of shopping bags after a day of shopping. Imagine we had walked the whole day and it had been raining the whole day. She asked us ('nicely' she said) to push the groceries forwards even if she easily could had pushed the conveyor belt on. After that she asked me 'nicely' to get out of the way so she could help the next customer. I didn't find that funny anymore so I answered in a very bitchy way 'No, I can't'. She thought I was rude and asked me to go home. I should had said 'With pleasure, bitch!' Two days left...

In California - interact with the locals. In NYC - never interact with the locals. Oh, I mean animals, bitches or whatever you choose to call them.

NYC

Yesterday, our first day in NYC, we waited outside Letterman's theatre for Robin Williams, Shannen Doherty, and Duffy. We got some good pictures and See Man got Robin Williams' and Duffy's autograph. On our way back to our hotel we saw Usher playing live. It was a huge NFL kickoff at Columbus Circle with him, Natasha Bedingfield, and Keith Urban.

Earlier today we went up Empire State Building, went to a lot of other sightseeing spots - Flatiron building, Union Square, Washington Square, Statue Of Liberty, New York Stock Exchange, Ground Zero, and South Street Seaport. LG held a free music event there and we saw Gym Class Heroes playing.

Hoover Dam And Lake Mead

Earlier today we went to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. After that we went to Las Vegas Premium Outlets for some shopping. The outlet was huge with a lot of stuff, most of it I don't want. I'm simply not interested in shopping anymore nowadays. At least not that 'out-of-control' kind of shopping. It is quality before quantity I prefer now.

We are having a buffet at Luxor now as I blog.

Grand Canyon

We left Las Vegas yesterday. After a 5-6 hours ride we came to Grand Canyon. We entered the park at the southern entrance and drove to its eastern entrance. It's about 25 miles with some spectacular vistas. The park was not crowded at all. Maybe the high season is over now. It was quite cold. We were freezing in our room even though the A/C was off.

Anyways, we lost Marcus and See Man at Grandview Point, one of the vistas, when they accidentally went down a bit of the trail thinking See Mei and I did that.

Later in the evening we went to Lipan Point to see the sunset. We sat there completely tucked in our British Airways blankets and sweaters and were freezing the whole time haha.

We are back in Vegas now and staying at Excalibur.

Last Day In LA

Yesterday was our last day in LA. Before leaving LA for Palm Springs we went to Rodeo Drive for some window shopping. After that we went to Beverly Center for some real shopping.

Went into some traffic again on our way to Palm Springs. It should have taken only 2 hours to drive but it took 4 hours instead. The motel was much cleaner than the Hollywood one. It had a nice pool too. Well, we are heading to Las Vegas today via Joshua National Park.

The weather forecast for today is scattered thunderstorm. :-(

No Coverage

Jesus! Apparently if you're with Telia you're out of coverage in most parts of Los Angeles. This is why I've been so quiet the last few days.

Anyway, this is what we've done so far.

26/8
The Griffith Observatory, the Hollywood sign, The Getty Center, UCLA, some shopping... We saw some filming of Criminal Minds at UCLA.

27/8
Hollywood Walk Of Fame, Venice Beach, and Santa Monica.

28/8
Universal Studios and Universal Studios City Walk. I hated the new
Simpsons Ride. It's basically the same as the old Back To The Future ride.

Our Rental Car

This is our rental car - a Toyota Highlander. I need a ladder to get in and to get out. ;-)

We landed one hour earlier yesterday due to good winds. After we picked up our rental car we went to Ralph's to buy some groceries before heading for our motel at Hollywood Blvd very near Hollywood Walk Of Fame, Universal Studios, Griffith Observatory and more.

We had problems with our GPS telling the instructions in yards so we learned very quickly to revert back to metres haha.

Anyway, we had no more problems after that and the GPS guided us straight to the motel. I think I have learned that the shortest distance is not always the quickest though. The last 5 km we went into some traffic and that part took 20 minutes at least.

Criss Angel's Believe Show Postponed

Sigh! Just received a mail from Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas
where Criss Angel's Believe show is held.

We had reserved tickets for one of the 15 pre-shows in
September, but unfortunately the show is now postponed
until October due to "technical difficulties"!

LA Times report...

Apparently this show was originally planned for July and
has been postponed several times before.

Sigh! I'm not a fan of Criss Angel's and have never seen
any of his Mind Freak shows either, but I can't help being
a little disappointed at the news. Really looked forward
to seeing a good show during our short stay in Vegas.

Boyce Avenue CD Is Out

One of the latest Youtube phenomena.
They've done covers of other artists'
songs on Youtube, now it is time for
their own release "All You're Meant To Be"

It's really worth a listen, sounds a little
bit like The Goo Goo Dolls - radio-friendly
rock in other words.

Work, Work, Work

Haven't been able to blog for a while now. Simply
because nothing special has happened lately. Work
is taking a lot of time right now. I joined another
team a few weeks ago and right now it feels like
I'm a newbie once again.

Trying to study Mandarin in a distance course at
Lund University. To be honest, I don't feel
motivated at all. It's not like I need to do it.
It's just for fun. And the thing with having to
sit by the computer after I have done that for
a whole day at work doesn't make it more fun
neither.

I hope to be able to pick up guitar playing and
song writing soon. It really has been a while.
Last month I wrote a whole new song, complete with
lyrics and melody. This has not happened since
May last year. The whole time in between I have
only managed to come up with a handful of lyrics.

This guy Alejandro Manzano is really good and
he makes good covers. Check out all his clips
at YouTube. Here are some of them.

Thank God I Survived

Went downtown for some shopping earlier today and was surprised by how slippery the road was. The bus I took slided on the road quite a lot all the way. All pedestrians took 10 cm step to avoid falling.

It has been raining last night and the whole day. The temperature was around 0 degrees C I guess and it was quite windy so all the rain that fell became a layer of slippery ice on the streets instantly.

Later on all the buses were taken out of traffic and they just lined themselves up on the streets. It was simply too dangerous to drive. It was dangerous to walk too. I fell once and I saw a man crawling on his feet and hands to get up after his fall.

My shopping was abruptly ended by a blackout. The buses were still not allowed to move at that time so I had to walk all the way home in the freezing rainy weather!
